Overview and purpose of workshop: The experience of self harm can create a number of tensions in individuals who self harm and in those whom they have contact with. "Cutting in" to the skin is one of many actions of self harm which may be used by individuals. In this one day workshop participants will be given the opportunity to practice a number of interactive techniques that can be used to "cut through" to engage with an individual who self harms. The workshop is open to teachers, school nurses, clinicians working in mental and general health settings, police, government and community sectors.
