This is an open invitation to leaders to attend an organisational leadership and coaching workshop in Ipswich. There will be two open afternoons in 2008 on the Tuesdays of 25th November and 9th December between 2 - 4 pm at the Community Room at the UQ Boilerhouse Community Engagement Centre in Ipswich. In 2009 they will be repeated on Tuesdays Feb 9th & 25th. The afternoon programs on and February 9th & 25th 2009
These afternoon programs will be a lively affair. As a small group of keen learners we will explore the area of leadership, community development, professional and personal development and the creative experiential methods that can make adult learning both fun and challenging – expect no PowerPoint presentations. Participants can expect to take away from these programs: a greater appreciation of their own particular organisation's or community's concerns; a reduced sense of isolation in their work; practical approaches to leadership in groups with some practice and strategies to progress their development.
Opportunities in 2009
This program is an introduction and a forerunner to a range of learning and development opportunities that we will be running in Ipswich in 2009. We will be offering three levels of programs from the introductory sessions like this one through to extensive leadership development.
We will be running a series of four weekly afternoon programs called Organisational and Leadership Coaching - a groupwork approach. This program is a form of coaching in a group where participants work with the coach and one another to develop new solutions to old professional and organisational problems and adequate solutions to new dilemmas. There will also be a Leadership, Groupwork and Coaching program through the Sociodrama method, which will run for much of the year in four terms and will develop a strong learning cohort amongst participants. Participants in both programs will be actively and consciously engaged to develop themselves as a community and group leader, a conscious group worker, a creative facilitator, a reflective learner, a colleague and as a bold adventurer. The learning methodology will include extensive experiential processes as well as reflective writing, peer learning processes and reading. Participants in both programs will bring forwards areas of concern and interest to focus on during sessions.
