Our recent history

In late 2007 the Moreno Collegium for Human Centred Learning Research and Development brought Macquarie House into its fold to form a new human development force in Brisbane. The main consultants of Macquarie House, Peter Howie and Elizabeth Synnot have consistently provided high level leadership development programs that really worked. With over 17 years of continuous experience in leadership and organisational development, providing services to public, private and community organisations. The programs they have developed change organisations by changing people's lives.

Originally begun as Elizabeth Synnot and Associates in 1990 then as Macquarie House a few years later when Elizabeth (Diz) Synnot and Peter Howie decided to combine their skills in training and organisational development. Since then Macquarie House has delivered tailored training programs to over 150 organisations.

Macquarie House's clients have included the Queensland Public Service, the Australian Public Service, local government organisations, the community sector and large private-sector businesses. We have worked at all levels, from whole-of-government to single work units.

Since 1998 Macquarie House has focused almost exclusively on leadership development, delivering programs such as Leadership Foundations, Leadership in Action, Advanced Leadership and Strategic Leaders. Our major clients in this time have been Education Queensland, Brisbane City Council, the Indigenous Education Training Authority (IETA), and particularly the Office of Public Service Merit and Equity (OPSME), through which we have delivered programs across the Queensland public service. This has built up a significant experience and understanding of working in the leadership development realm having worked closely with over 1,000 middle and senior public service managers, specialists and scientists.

Peter and Elizabeth have a reputation for developing innovative, ‘real' programs that make a difference to people's lives. For over 35 of our programs we have personally conducted follow-up interviews with the participants' supervisors, and they have consistently verified just how profound the learning has been for many of their people.

The Moreno Collegium is evolving and expanding in 2009. We are hosting a number of programs run by exemplary trainers and developers. we invite you to stay tuned.
