Open Night series - Spontaneity at large

We are holding a psychodrama open nights starting on February 20th and then on the last Wednesday of each month in 2008 from 6.30 - 9.30 pm at 45 Clarence St, Coorparoo. All are welcome with no prior experience required. Experienced dramatists and psychodramatists welcome.

Life

Life can be a real pleasure, a real pain, chaotic or organised, functional or stressful, integrating or disintegrating, flowing or stuck. Life is what it is. How we examine our lives is not taught well in our education systems. Self refection and learning can become somewhat random events that seem even more significant because of their rarity. Psychodrama is a profoundly delightful way of consciously examining the underground streams and rivers of our lives.

What to expect

Psychodrama stimulates spontaneity and as this evening unfolds you can expect to open up to hitherto unfamiliar, forgotten or hidden aspects of yourself. You will likely be surprised to discover that this is liberating and brings with it a certain flexibility and suppleness. With flexibility comes the ability to reconsider decisions, remake plans and rethink life itself.

Psychodrama method

The psychodrama method is remarkable. It uses dramatic methods to bring your inner world to life. As this inner world is laid out in front of you and around you, you are capable of seeing previously missed aspects of life or coming to new conclusions regarding what is important or simply revealing in what you have made of your opportunities. The focus is on your development and the unleashing of your spontaneity into life enhancing creativity. There will ample time to discuss the method, ask questions or complain about the supper. The program for 2008 for the Collegium will also be available.

Psychodrama director du jour

This may vary but the initial psychodramatist will be Peter Howie will be leading the evening. He has worked and trained hard and attained the qualification of psychodrama trainer, educator and practitioner. He loves his craft and he loves his art. He has been running experiential development groups since 1993. As Director of Training for the Moreno Collegium for Human Centred Learning, Research and Development he is responsible for the curriculum development of the training programs for psychodrama, sociodrama, sociometry and role training. He also works as a community and organisation developer and co-parents to two teenagers.
