This sociodrama training program is designed as an integrated week long program. It will benefit sociodrama trainees and practitioners as well as change agents, Organisation Development consultants and HR managers.
Sociodrama in Organisational and Community Development: Program 1
This first program is designed for change agents, OD consultants and HR managers. Ideally they will be actively working to progress the organisation or community they are committed to. Participants will be invited to work with their own organisations or those they consult to. Systemic exploration and analyses will be used and taught - with models such as Social Systems Theory, Transformational Learning and Role Theory.
Setting out the system
Together we will set out concretely the organisational and community systems of participants and make working hypothesis of the systems displayed, and teach how to do this in action and explore possible interventions. We will explore the wide range of relevant social forces. This way participants can see the arrays of dynamics operating in their situation. They can understand their roles in it and their points of influence. Working from the lived experience within the system we will investigate where life is blocked,. We will look at what might progress that system (or not) with a view to enabling the expression of spontaneity. Participants will emerge with some concrete processes and action plans. These will progress the learning and their work as change agents, sociodramatists or revolutionaries in the system.
Sociometric, group and sociodramatic principles
The workshop will apply sociometric, group and sociodramatic principles, techniques and theory in the living moments of the group as well as to systems being reflected on by participants. Together we will expand our individual capability to work in the service of progressing issues of deep social concern, our capacity yo remain firm in the face of resistances to learning and to live with the consequences of being organisational and social activists. All those who attend this workshop are encouraged to attend Workshop 2 for further consolidation of learning and expansion of your professional identity.
Training in Sociodrama: Program 2
This second program will builds on the focus of the first. Sociodrama has as its aim the regeneration of life in participants and in the organisations and communities where they live and work. The focus in this group is the further integration of sociodrama into your practice and lives. We will explore what is involved in a sociodramatic approach to group life and experiment with:
- Sociometry,
- Leading, following and unifying group warm ups.
- Sociodramatic questions and interventions,
- Application of the group focal conflict model,
- Directing sociodramas with supervision,
- Reading, writing and discussing Moreno's work,
Methodology
During the workshops there will be experiential sessions in the morning and afternoons. After lunch each day there will be one hour written reflection sessions with a suggested proforma and discussion that will expand your learning. It is likely that the evening session will be a study session and will involve reading, writing and discussing the day with colleagues.
Professionals in these fields will gain from getting together with like-minded colleagues who are dedicated to the progress of places of work and living. In both workshops you will be touched personally and will warm up to undertaking development work to allow us to expand your work capabilities. Expect to bring forward the delights and dilemmas of your work.
Outcomes
Participants in both workshops can anticipate
- The joy and demands of collegiality,
- In-common experiences with social systems, social forces and social life to discuss and extensively reflect upon,
- Intellectual and emotional satisfaction and challenges that expand our capability,
- The study of Moreno and other social systems theory and its application to your work,
- Expansion of, and unification in your professional identity.
