‘I want to be more accepting of the child in me. Therefore, I will with wonder and awe allow children to illuminate my world.' 1.

Many children and young people neither have the words nor developmental understanding to articulate their concerns. The ‘arts' such as drama, drawing and storytelling can enable this expression. Through the use of symbols and metaphor difficult experiences or emotions can be enacted within a safe person- centred environment.

Develop an understanding of aspects of expressive therapy- including play therapy and psychodrama -and its' impact on children and young people.

Address the importance of ‘relationship' in working with children.

This workshop will be suitable for all people who work with children, young people and adults as an introduction in the use of expressive therapies.

Workshop facilitators:

She has over 30 years experience in social work and psychotherapy working with children and adults in both government services and private practice.
